I can't say for sure about Model 19's but I have a Pre 36 Chiefs Special that is a 5 screw Baby Chief. It was a mfg. in Feb 1952 and by all rights should have been a 4 screw with other eng changes. But it's not.
I also saw a Model 10-7 a week ago that was mfg.in 1981. Should have had a pinned barrel. But it did not. So there are 2 examples of S&W manufacturing guns that "are out of whack" with published manufacturing / engineering changes. I have heard of lots of other examples like this on the forum. With S&W guns nothing should surprise you.

zgate - I have a nickel 19 no dash that is K390xxx that shipped at end of 1961.
Amen to that. Manufacter dates and shipping dates can be out of whack. I don't have the experiance that others do, but I have learned not to get locked in on the book. Surprise, surprise. The engineering changes can be confusing in some cases.
