1911 sight question?

Can the front sight on a Smith 1911 be moved? I just got a new 1911 and the front sight is over to the right in the slot, and it shoot left. I adjusted the rear sight right but it still shoots left.

If it's the basic SW1911 like what I owned then yes it will move. It's tight so you need a brass punch and I'd put the slide in a padded vise. I wouldn't strike it with the frame attached. I support the slide with packing so you don't squish it in the vise as you hold it.
