I had a stainless steel 1911 when I was in the Navy in the late 70's/early 80's. It was a Colt. Other than that, I don't know a whole lot about it. I don't know why I didn't keep it and I don't think I was even asked if I wanted to keep it when I was honorably discharged.
I'd like to find one like what I had if I can. I've been researching 1911's and 70's from Colt. Seems like they've become quite collectible with prices to match.
Anyone have a late 70's 1911 that they're not looking to make a "killing" on? I'm looking for a shooter that's tight and in "good" shape. I'm not looking for a safe queen or a rare, one of a kind! I just want a basic 1911 that I can take to the range - for old times sake.
Any suggestions or advice appreciated!
