I have heard that we should beware of the man who only has
one gun. He probably knows how to use it.
Well, I sold off all my guns, except one, last year. I also sold
off all of my holsters.
Here, on the left, is the one gun I kept. It is a
Colt series 80 Gold Cup National Match. I had
the commander hammer installed just because
I like the look.
2nd and 3rd are two of my favorite holsters.
2nd one was made by my friend Red Nichols and he
also made me the belt. Red is a frequent contributor
to this forum, and a real good friend.
The 3rd is a Heiser. Kind of pretty don't you think?
The belt is by Texas Gunslinger. The buckle is by Nezzi,
a Navajo silversmith.

Great choice to hang onto;. Over the next year, I'll be following your example; selling all my guns except for three; my Seecamp .32 acp, my Walhter/Manurhin PP .32 acp, and My Ruger MKII .22 pistol. :D

I love the looks of many different hand guns. But the 1911 is arguably the most iconic semi-auto ever. It represents the history and evolution of America. I have carried one in military and civilian situations. Just looking at one stirs feelings of patriotic pride. It seems to represent the character and unflinching courage if our country. The leather work is awesome. thanks for posting that. I keep going back yo look at it again ans again.

To my way of thinking there's only two pistols that can challenge the 1911 for most iconic...the Luger and the Browning Hi Power. They each have the panache and the history...being honest I've never liked the Luger...the grip angle is wrong for me and while they're very finely made are very picky about cleanliness and reliability...bad for a service pistol. The Browning is possibly the most elegant handgun design ever and has been used by more militaries as an official sidearm than the 1911...but I think the 1911 still takes the crown...design...power...historical importance...plus the idea it's American! That may not be a genuine criteria but it counts.

I can't imagine what it would be to cut back to one. Although I have a "nursing home" 37 and 43 set aside, I would still feel adrift without the H&R USRA pistol given me by a good friend at my club.

Outside of a nursing home, at least a 2" 15 and something lighter, maybe a 12 or 642 or 37, seem almost obligatory.

Can't argue against the choice of the 1911 as THE one, but ONE???

Please help me understand this.

I'm trying to get to the same place you are. I really trying but it is very difficult. At least I stopped buying.

Ditto. But it's hard, especially if I see something and go, damn, that's a good deal!

At some point in the near future, I'm going to have to make some hard choices to make our plans happen. It's not going to be easy. I really like what I have. But with no heirs, and a desire to move, it's got to be done.

If it came down to only owning ONE pistol, I would have to say that it would be a Glock Model 45 MOS. I know, heresy on this board.

But I shoot great with this pistol, it's totally reliable, and I would be covered as a home defense, CCW, and range/plinker pistol with it.
