I am a bit confused. I see a number of threads on the forum about 1911’s. I think most are under the sub-forum “Firearms & Knives - Other Brands.”
But it just hit me, you may be talking about S&W built 1911’s. I think S&W has made many fine 1911 style pistols, but I don’t believe they are the most common.
You can do a search and find those threads.

If indeed the OP is asking about the lack of S&W 1911s threads it's not because they aren't fine weapons but more to the fact that it took S&W 92 years to make their first one in 2003.
And they are obviously not their bread & butter catalog item but rather one to fill a niche for S&W fans.

I think many of us here love 1911s and how could we not?
here are a few of mine, they all I use in steel challenge and USPSA anymore because I love how they feel in my hand, the SS must have 30,000 rounds through it by now.
To go by the math logic, mine are -(Smith) + Wesson.

I too have a S&W E series 1911. Very capable 1911 IMO. I prefer it to the Colt, SA or SIG 1911s I’ve owned in the past. Mine is slightly modified with a FO front sight, magwell and G10 grips.
Think some don’t consider it because of the external extractor. This is an attribute IMO, as mine has been extremely reliable.

Non-exchangable parts. Probably a management decision. Does not hurt the action or reliability. I do not have one, but a friend does, have shot it along with my RIA clone, and it is a good 1911.

S&W made good 1911's, The E Type was a very solid and accurate pistol.
Used to? Do you know something the rest of us don't know? I just checked the Smith and Wesson website and the 1911 E-Series is still listed as a currently offered model. I have one and like another comment said I prefer it over Sig Sauer 1911's I've owned. It's a great pistol.
Thing you have to realize, this is a S&W forum, and while they do make 1911's, the majority of what S&W makes are the M&P series and their derivatives.
On the Springfield form there's a post by a new member who got a Springfield made Hi Power asking why there was no dedicated area for the thing.
For the 1911 and Hi Power, and given that there are multiple manufacturers of the things, they have dedicated forums that are manufacturer agnostic, so I really don't expect a forum for Springfield, S&W, or any manufacturer, to have more than just passing posts, and expect an enthusiast to search out the specific forums dedicated to them.
FWIW, the 1911 has long been my favorite pistol, where this is the first one I bought for myself decades ago

I always wanted a 1911. Talking with the dealer, he pointed me to the smith. "It's the best value for the money, and it can shoot better than most of the people that own them." So, the next one that came in I bought. I already had an m&p 9. Next, I bought a 637, and soon maybe a model 60 3"

I like 1911's, almost all my semiauto's are that type, or similar JMB designs. I hadn't really paid attention, but my true 1911's are all internal extractor and the others are external. I have several makes, but no S&W and no Colt 1911, although I do have a 1903 Colt. I also went for the different caliber offerings, and have them in 9mm, .38 Super, .40S&W, 10mm and .45 Auto.

Face facts KIMBER screwed up and gave the external extractor a BAD image .S&W uses a external extractor on all of their pistols
A real1911 designed by JMB did not have a amby safety or extended safety ,,tapered mag well or 3"barrel

If the Army wanted a ambidextrous safety JMB would have given them one. In over a hundred the basic design of the 1911 has not really been improved…the only changes have been in details…better sights…better metallurgy…but overall the basic design is still pumping out rounds down range as JMB intended.
Same here. That’s what kept me from buying one. I like external extractors, but not on my 1911s. Perhaps for the same reasons I don’t like the post 1998 changes to Smith revolvers. I just like what I like.

I keep looking for a S&W 1911 with enough wear and tear to be in my price bracket. I personally like the S&W 2nd and 3rd generation 45 calibers also

I have four S&W 1911s; a two-tone 1991Sc E-Series in .45ACP, a stainless steel PC1911 in .45ACP, a stainless steel PC1911 in .38 Super and a stainless steel E-Series in .45ACP. The latter is my home defense gun and one of my carry pieces.
It is equipped with a Wilson Combat ambidextrous safety, oversize extended magazine release, extended slide stop release and magazine well as well as a Recover Tactical "jacket" that adds a rail and fits into its own holster that accommodates a light. The gun is securely retained in the holster until the plate on the side is depressed; a tab under it engages with the square hole in the "jacket."
They are all excellent handguns and I for one prefer the external extractor as they almost never require the occasional "tuning" (aka: bending) that internal extractors do.
