I was wondering if anyone made reproduction
prewar magnas. I know about the place in, I think, NC that is selling 1917 grips. I already have a realativly nice set of original commercial grips. I'm looking for something a little more comfortable, but still aesthetically pleasing.....And doesn't cost $400.00....for originals.

Any help would be appriciated....Thanks

It isn't much, but it is all I have that belongs on this side.

Nice looking vintage gun. If you want the shooting comfort of magna's, why not just use a set of post war magna's?

"modern magnas" won't fit a 1917 will they?

I remember my dad "opening up" a pair of N frame targets for a ....little or nothing invested..... project gun he built.

It was a 1917 frame, a 1955 barrel, a cylinder from a Canadian .455 - .45 colt. The only thing he bought was a few internals. Almost everything was donated from different friends junk boxes.

It ain't pretty, and he won't shoot anything but cowboy loads out of it, but it killed a Western PA winter.

You can use any N frame grips, stocks if you prefer.

You may have to tweak the pin holes at the bottom, but they will fit.

Thanks, for some reason I thought that a 1917 has a slightly different grip frame than a modern N frame.

There is a MWCA show this weekend in St. Paul. I should be able to find something.

There have been some repros listed in the Shotgun News, a magazine that lists guns and related equipment for sale. The price was around $40. When I contacted then they were out. Even so, SOMEBODY is making them. I'm looking also, so if I locate a source I'll let you know.
