1917 photo thread

Marksman 41

I didn't send it to S&W. It was sent by the previous owner. I bought the gun 3 yrs ago. It was finished around 1974. I've moved in the last two yrs and the Factory ltr is still somewhere in a box. Thanks for the compliment. Frank

My 1917, matching serial numbers and with non original grips.

Okay... its beautiful to me, hammer and trigger are inbound to George Roghaar for remodeling, grips are being manufactured in walnut burl by a forum member and maple burl just for kicks by another grip maker to see how they look, the sideplate is a replacement so I don't screw up the original Brazillian one, the cylinder is a new old stock model 25 with a Brownell extractor rod and the bulged barrel is going to be replaced by the NOS one before the gun is refinished. Oh, btw, the frame is original lol. Regards, Chef

Some beautiful old warhorses here...originals, refinished ones, and project guns.

But I'm sure I've seen more severely modified ones posted before. Where are your 1917's with the 2 1/2" or 3" barrel models? Where are those with the round butt modificationss? Where are the "Fitzed" guns? In other words let's see your "belly guns" again!

Ahhhhhh, I'm back in the 1917 game again. Just agreed to a trade for one. Gonna get the C&R and the donor in the mail tomorrow. Here's a pic the seller sent me:

Thanks S.B.!
As soon as I get a chance to get out the camera, I'll post a photo of it with the genuine Mother of Pearl grips I got for it. Sweet!

And yes, I was kidding about "having to make do."

DeaconKC, that pistol that your seller showed you looks like a Triple lock! Maybe it's a .44 or .455 (I'm thinkin' British military .455-it has a lanyard ring). Either way, I think if that's a photo of the actual gun, you're getting a better deal than you first thought!

Deacon,
That photo is definitely a Triple Lock. You can clearly see the 3rd lock on the right side. Stophel is right, hope that is the gun that is being shipped to you.
