1950 (first year) Pre-27 Factory Fired

If she isn't worried about the price neither should you. That gun would be in my "Never sell" pile. I've dropped enough gun hints in the 35 years of marriage the Ray Charles could follow the trail. My wife has yet to buy one for me, she is still a keeper as she pretty much lets me buy what I want. I just don't think she is comfortable buying one....Enjoy !

..So my wife (god bless her) overheard me…Mike

Mike,

I have a similar tale I recounted in my thread on the New Century. Herself overheard my thoughts (I guess I thought out loud?) regarding an out of the blue offer from a gentleman to sell me a NC. We had just signed papers to buy a new house and I bemoaned the timing. She did a little checking and said “…tell him you’ll take it…”.

I plan to keep both!

Kevin

Beautiful gun, and what a woman! That gun would be the crown jewel in most of our safes, and will only go up in value. Your wife outbid several people, who badly wanted that gun, just as you did...so I wouldn't look at that as overpaying. More just you paid that market value on that particular day. Enjoy that gun and that woman, and congrats!

Have your wife sit down and read through this thread. The gratitude, admiration, and envy of your fellow Forum members about what an awesome wife you have will most definitely make her glow with happiness. Then buy her a very nice piece of jewelry and give it to her over a candle lit dinner. You definitely need to hold on to her.

The more I look at the auction photos, the more I don't think she overpaid. It's hard to put a value on a truly museum-quality piece. With all the folks that have "excellent pre-27" guns, how many can say that they have a package that represents exactly the way the gun left the factory in 1950? Not many I would guess.

Don't worry, be happy. And post on every "pre-27" thread from now until the end of time, because you have a reference piece for everyone else.

Very kind of you to say.

OK, my first impression is not even about the gun, it's about YOUR WIFE! Don't get me wrong, the gun is FABULOUS! But your wife is so much better I have no words. I agree with the above post, let your wife read these comments. WHATEVER she paid is second (and it's a distant second) to how she feels about YOU. You cannot put a price on that. Thank goodness for that gun, but thank God for that wife!

Roger

If she bought it on an auction site, the skies the limit on price. But I would have held out for a Registered Magnum... Just kidding! Great gun you have there

If I want a gun, my Wife says buy it. The only caveat is that every gun I've bought since we were married in 2017, goes to her when I pass on. She will have quite a collection.:)
To add to this post, I have a friend who was selling a Colt 1921 Thompson & accessories, with a price of around $33,000.00.
I commented to my Wife that I would really like to have it as I've always wanted a "Tommy gun". She said buy it, and get a 2nd mortgage on the house to get it.
I thought long and hard on that, and in the end did not get it. Good thing too, as a short time afterwards, we purchased another home and wanted some remodeling done to it.

Sometimes I think this is a test wives give to their husbands. It's a way of seeing if we'll do something dumb or not. :D:D:D

That is a really nice revolver, sounds like you have a great wife as well. Thanks for showing us.
