this is sitting in my local Chevy dealership show room. the owner bought it a few months ago. one repaint/original colors in the 1980s. original interior, motor, tranny etc. I tried to get him to order me one in two tone blue but he said they didn't offer that combo any longer. lee

That actually was my first car,,, about 1958,,,

I had it for over two years before it quit running for good.

My dad got it for me,, I must have drove it over 100 miles in our back yard.

I barely had enough room to turn it around,,,

Mine was one tone dark green,,, with an automatic transmission,,,

I always hated the grill,,, but, I could not find a grill out of a '51 that was not pitted to death,,,

Luckily,, the gas station was just across the street,,,
I did not have to carry the gas can very far,,, :D

My friend took out the center part of the grill and put in a 54 with added teeth.

When I was 15-16 in '62 every body had one ('52-'54' Chevy)as a first car. A friend of mine and I were talking about this body style. It seemed like the motors were solid and the were pretty quick for a six. The auto transmissions (hydroflop?) were not built for a teenager jumping on the go pedal all the time. Stick shift was much better for a kid. I was on the lookout for a ragtop but they must have had limited production during those years. '55 - '57 built a whole lot more convertibles but that body style was in great demand by every teenage guy in the country and $350-$400 was big bucks for a guy with an after school job.
I'm sure you've seen all those '50's Chevy's in Cuba.

Had an uncle that had one just like it sitting out back.
Had set for 15 years at that time
Around the time I turned 16(in '82) he told me I could have it if I could get it to run and drive it away.
Unfortunately at that time I knew nothing about mechanics.
Used to set in it looking through that old green tented windshield and daydream, but never got it to turn over.
Beautiful cars they were.

Up until I was about 12 I thought all the cars in the world looked like those. North Dakota must have had more those Chevys per capita than any other state--or so it seemed, anyway.

My first wheels were a '53 Chevy pickup. A decent restored one now goes for more than one of these bloated POSs in the showrooms.

I prefer that first one!

My first car (at least in my name) was a '52 just like it, but it was a light blue color. I bought it used in 1960 for $400. I drove it all through my college years, had a lot of fun in it with several girls - a nice back seat. I gave it to my younger brother when I graduated. He had it re-painted a metallic green and added a stick shift on the floor. He also drove it the whole time he was in college. No idea how many miles were on it when he sold it, probably close to 150K-200K. It had a puny straight 6 engine, but it was enough to keep within the speed limits. It had a really great heater, it would bake you if it was set too high. Just the thing for central Ohio winters.

Certainly there would be a market for a modern car built with the exterior of those old classic Chevys, especially 55-57. I think GM is missing out not capitalizing on that.

My G'Pa had one just like that.. bought it new...It was light grey on the bottom, dark grey on the top.. PG trannie...
Fond memories...
Thanks!!!!
