Question on the 1960s All Model Circulars/catalog's.
I don't try to collect the same AMC with different effective or printed date just one from each year. Well at the moment anyway. I'm missing 1962, have not seen one for sale, or find any info on this forum or a picture on the web.
Was a model circular issued/dated 1962?

I'm guessing that if one was issued for 1962 the cover would be the similar theme as 61 63 & 64 with the factory on the cover?
Aussie,

You are correct!! 1960 was the last "True" All Model Circular issued!! Starting in 1961 the "Catalog", so to speak, wasn't much more than a Flyer with a couple add'l pages which is the one you described!! It didn't contain much more info than the previous 1960 Circular just a Frt. & Rear Cover with a few of the Autos added to the content which accounted for the added pages!! The Cover Page was entitled "The Gateway to Fine Gunmaking"!! It had an Aerial View of the Factory Complex & Front of the Building on the Front Cover & an Engraved Model 41 on the Rear Cover!! (See Pic) Hope this helps!!

Thanks
I always called 1971 the last Model Circular?
Ok, clear as mud in a beer bottle, I think I understand, maybe not.
So a "circular" is a catalog with models on the cover like most from the 40s & 50s. Then called "catalogs" with no models on the cover, in 61, 62 (maybe) 63, 64, all with the factory the cover, and 1965, 66, 67, 68, 69 &71, with the triangle on the cover are also catalogs?
Or is it a matter of if "All Model Circular" is not printed on the cover it's a catalog?
Therefore 49 or 51 are not model circular's either.

I'm still unsure, was one was issued for 1962?

My confusion continues.
On the S&W 2000 catalog is a picture of the 1961 with the factory on the front. In the legion S&W describe it as the "1961 All Model Circular"?
I know this is neither here or there if it's a catalog or a AMC, unless of course you only collect All Model Circular's. I only want to clasify my collection correctly.

Forgetting about the fliers, price lists, parts lists, manuals, supplements, etc, how do you "catalog collectors" distinguish all model circular from a catalog?

More importantly my original question was a catalog issued for 1962?

Masterpiece, you have made me very curious. What is the green page under the 1961 catalog in the pic. On first glance I thought it to be a 1964, however on another inspection I noticed it's larger and white where the factory should be?

Cheers.

Hi Aussie,

First off, I apologize for the lateness of my response to your 12/20 Posting, but I must have somehow missed your post in days past!! Sorry!!

Anyway, to answer your inquiry as to what S&W Collectors consider an "All Model Circular" to be, in my opinion I personally have always considered anything with "All Model Circular" on the Cover Page to be an AMC & the others to be Catalogs!! Just my opinion!!

As far as a there being a "Catalog" specifically issued, or dated as being a 1962, I don't believe so!! I may be wrong in assuming this, but I have never owned, or seen one, with Effective Prices or Printed-On Date as being so!!

I believe this was also the case back in 40's & Early 50's when you'll see a few of those that don't date to a specific year either!! I believe the reason for this to be the previous year either didn't have a Price Increase or the prior years AMC was printed close to the end of the Model Year & S&W felt no need to print a "New" AMC if they still had plenty in inventory to cover the following year!! Again, just my opinion, not documented fact!!

Lastly, the "Green Page" you are referring to in my photo is not a page at all, but actually the Green Binder Cover showing thru under the Catalog when I took a quick photo for you the other morning!! Sorry for the confusion....Ha!~Ha!

Thanks.
You didn't miss my post? I'm 18hours ahead so it took that long for you to catch up.:D
Here it's now Christmas eve 4:00pm.
Seriously there is that may members on this forum it would be a full time job reading all the posts.

I didn't think there was one for 62 thanks again.
I think if S&W call 61 a circular that's good enough for me, but really it doesn't matter.
All the best for Christmas and the New Year.
Cheers.
