I am no expert in S&W revolver anything.

A. Are K frame sights interchangable?

B. I have a '67 Model 14-2 that had the rear sight removed to have an optic installed, not my mod. What is the correct rear sight for a 14-2?

C. Is it essentially a wild goose chase to try and find the correct sight and should I just install an aftermarket sight since the gun has been tapped for the optic anyway?

Any help to my silly question would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome!

Yes, it would be relatively easy to find a replacement rear sight for a model 14-2. It will have a squared off front edge to the sight leaf (the part that attaches to the top strap), and the screw hole for the leaf was made in two locations so you would need the right version.

The rear sight blade (slide) comes in different heights and someone here can tell you the correct one for a model 14. Bonus is the sight covers all top strap holes :). You can post a Wanted to Buy ad here on the site. Good luck in your search.

The rear sight leaf on a 14-2 should be the same screw spacing used on the 17-2, 18-2, 19-2 and earlier post war K target rear units.

Be aware that K target sight units made prior to model numbers might have the older style narrow sight scallop cutout.
Another thing to be aware of is that since the SS K target revolvers were introduced during the dash 3 revision of their blue version counterparts no model 67 or 66 rear sight would have the right screw spacing.

I'll tell you WHAT!

No matter what you want to know about S&W's---ANY of them---no matter how obscure or off the wall it may be, somebody here is going to have the answer---and they're going to have it pretty much RIGHT NOW!!

It fair boggles the mind!!
