So, in short, I have been looking for a 12-2 for awhile. Followed one on GB and calendared the date in my phone. 30 minutes to go, I bring it up on the puter and start looking at detailed pictures. Looked at 1-19 of 21, wife crashes into cupboards with her power wheel chair (MS for 30 years), get nurse coming, attending to wife, max bid 650 walk away, etc. etc. Later, I see I win. Pay. Pickup 12-2 from FFL, who says I hit a home-run. We/he examine and we see that the backstrap is scribbed. Darn it. He says not to worry still did good, no mark on cylinder, not used (much). Get home. Picture 20 shows scrib. My fault. Not sure if I would have bid. But get over it. I really like the 12-2. Almost to nice to shoot. Going to wait to post til I get letter to see if anything positive regards history. Tonight, watching the "Fourth Man", I cycle throught a couple revolvers shooting communists on the screen. Take out the 12-2 and squeeze one off and start to fiddle with it. Oh, oh, now I see the frame above the cylinder is scribbed and the bottom of the barrel is scribbed. Can't wait to show it to the FFL guy. We both missed it cause we didn't want to open and close it, etc. LOL, my eyes got too big to pay attention. Not my first time doing this, or should I say it's pretty much my normal. Anyway, looks like an owner mark or a case number etc. Serial number is D477494. Back strap scrib, CC#57. Above cylinder on frame, J.73.664 DJB. Bottom of barrel, J-72_664 DJB. Anyway, I'm happy, what else can I be. I will wait for the letter, but if a hardware store gun I will likely be inclined to shoot it. Alot. Thanks for looking, Carl
