I’m looking to sell or trade this 4” nickel Colt Python .357 magnum made in 1970.
The serial number is: E15179
The Good.
This gun is in excellent mechanical condition. It times perfectly and there is no excessive end shake. It is a fantastic shooter and an absolute tack driver. If you are looking for a “shooter” Python to go along with your safe queen, this is it. The barrel bore and the charge holes in the cylinder are perfect.
The Bad.
It’s been refinished sometime in its life. There are many pictures which tell the story. There is no nickel flaking anywhere on the gun.
The Ugly.
There is a black spot in the finish on the left side of the barrel. I'm not sure what it is, but it looks like blood pitting to me. The area on the side plate below the cylinder release is the worst part of the gun. It looks like the finish may have been applied over some pitting, but I'm not an expert. There are some visible pock marks there. The Pony roll mark has been buffed and the rear half of the Pony is barely visible. I've included a few pictures of this area that should tell the story. The right side plate looks much better, but there are some slight imperfections in that area as well. All that said, there are no areas where the nickel is flaking. The cylinder and barrel nickeling looks good.
Now asking $1,550.00 / OBO shipped insured to your FFL in the lower 48 States.
I’ll accept a C&R if you want to pick it up. If you are a Floridian, I’ll do a FTF with your Florida DL and CWFL. I’m in the Jacksonville area.
I'll accept a Postal money order, or cash (local pick up) for payment.
I would prefer to sell it, but I am open to trades +/- cash. My trade interests are S&W N-frames and S&W K-frame snub noses made up until 1981, Sig Sauers, military pistols, 1911’s, or ??? Try me!
All Forum rules apply. An “I’ll take it” in this thread, followed by a PM gets it.
Thank you!
