My uncle basically gave me a K38 Masterpiece that he has owned since he was 20. Serial number is 124xxx, so late 1951 area?
The grips do not have any numbers on them.
The other numbers all match.
Lucky duck this week!

Welcome to the S&W Forum, Stanimal.

The serial number would be K124xxx. The letter is part of the serial number. And yes, it probably left the factory late in the year 1951.

The smooth target stocks are a later addition, but appear to have been made by S&W.

Nice piece; nice gift from your uncle.
