put 200 rounds through my new (yesterday) M&P 22lr and am very happy with it...decent groupings once I got used to it...two FTE'S with some old ammo I have had for over 20 years but none with my new stuff ...the range I went to had bags of 200 for $12 with a limit of 2....will go back and get more tomorrow...I'm happy with it...:D

Come on now. Pics or it didn't happen. :D I love mine. My wife also has one too. Shoots great. I used mine along with my 15-22 in a steel plate match a while back, loads of fun.

I was actually asking for a pic of your pistol , although we all know what it looks like. I shoot at steel plates and paper targets at the range. I can hit the steel plate at 25 yards with my pistol. I don't know exactly the size of the plate, my friend owns them. But if I had to guess it is a 10" plate. Ill measure them when I hit the range this weekend. But it hits where I aim. I usually take all my M&P's to the range, and my .22 gets shot more than my other pistols. Especially when my friends see my pull it out of my bag. Everyone want to shoot it.
 
Congrats on your M&P 22!, I had mine for about a year and put a lot of rounds through with great results. All the malfunctions I experience have been ammo related as with quality ammo runs 100%, I installed a set of Dawson precision sights (FO front) and it made a huge difference.
 
I owned mine for about 6 months. I absolutely love mine and so does my friend which is a huge glock fan by the way. Wish I could find more 22 rounds to shoot through it so I could shoot it way more. But since I love my 22 so much I am going to buy a 9 shield.
 
I added fiber optic sights and a trigger job to mine and use it for steel challenge and non-sanctioned IDPA matches. I now have a few thousand rounds through mine and it still short cycles on Federal and Winchester ammunition, so I stick to Mini-Mags. Remington Golden will work, but is dirty and group sizes are somewhat larger than with Mini-Mags and in a some of the matches, the targets and plates are out to 35 yards.
 
just got back from the range again and put another 250 rounds of Blazer 40 gr. through it...no FTF or FTE like the two FTE with theold ammo...the more I shoot it the better I like it...:)
 
Congrats on the new M&P jimmib. I just picked up an M&P22 on Tuesday. Can't wit to shoot it.
 
It's my intention to expose as many people to shooting this year as I can. I thought that a 22 would be a great caliber to start them off with. Since the M&P22 is ergonomically the same as my M&P40 fs (I also have a 9mm barrel for it) this would be a good fit for new shooters. Not to mention an inexpensive fun way for us to get in some practice.
 
Bought a used M&P22 and had lots of problems with it initially - FTF and FTE 15% of the time. The ammo was bulk Federal lead ammo. Then I switched to bulk Federal copper hollow point and it still has little bit of problem. Then I thoroughly cleaned the gun and it fired perfectly for about 300 rounds until I ran out (maybe 1 or 2 problems in 300 rds).

Today, I went to shoot some new 500 round bulk Federal I got from Walmart (Lightning - 40 grain/lead) and it literally failed to eject 99.9%. When I examined the gun, I noticed that the extractor was not grabbing the shell. It looked like the lip on the shell was too short/thin for the extractor to grab and eject. I did not have the copper hollow point to try again after this failure with the Walmart bulk ammo and I did not pick up the spent shell casing to try to compare (they were all over the floor).

What can you conclude from this, if any? Is this kind of short-lipped shell casing common? I do have a Ruger Mark III which I have not yet tried to shoot with this ammo yet.
 
Any 22 made by Walther, including the M&P22 and the Walther P-22 need ammo with more consistency than Federal and Winchester. I did a chronograph test on all of them and the Federal and Winchester had a standard deviation of over 100 fps. That's why some rounds short cycle the slide and close on an empty chamber. You can see them when the casings eject and barely make it out of the gun, The Mini-Mags have a standard deviation of 33 fps and that's why they cycle perfectly. Remington Golden deviate by closer to 75 fps and seem to work well too.
 
Congrats, I really enjoy mine. Got one to go along with my 9. Anyway, I've shot a lot of different ammo through and no problems. I do like the cci stingers and mini mags best though.

I'm thinking about a Rossi Plinker or Ruger SR22. I like DA/SA guns, but can't afford S&W. Made a deal with a friend, 200 rds. of my reloaded 223 for a 1400 rd. bucket of R-P 22's. I may throw in 2 boxes of 243 and a box of 45ACP as well. At least I'll have something to shoot if I get one of the aforementioned guns. I have the M&P 9c, great gun, 1200 reloads thru it, no problems and very accurate.
 
Congratulations on the purchase as they are great pistols for the price.
