2" model 64 question.

Anyone know what 2" 64s in very good condition are bringing these days?

About 3 years ago the local police department traded in three 2" Model 64's and six 4" Model 28's at a local gun store. Apparently these were found in locked away somewhere while the PD was moving from the old police station to the new building. I bought them all for $250 each, which I considered to be a bargain. Like most police guns, carried quite a bit but not really used very much. All 1970's production.

Original Model 64, pinned barrel, very good to excellent condition, I would expect to see prices in the $300 to $400 range. I suspect that I'm not the only one around that would rather have those than most of the current crop.

Thanks, of course I'd really rather to find a 3", but this 2"er is calling me back.

There was a thread on this very topic recently. $400-$500 seems to be the norm right now.

Yup, that's what I'm seeing. Model 64 snubbies -- no box, tools or docs -- in NRA "very good" or better start at $400 if you're lucky.

And the officers did not notice the mask and gun (well, I guess not, you were buying more)? I would call that a very, very good bargain.

And, yes, I prefer the older guns (not that I don't have a couple of newer ones).

I didn't get the 64 mainly because the guy wouldn't move off of $450 with no box and wrong grips.
But, I did pick up a nifty N.A.A. .22 Magnum min-revolver at a good price. Been wanting one for some time, now to find ammo for it. Anybody got 5 they are willing to loan me.

Diamonback, I'll loan you some 22 magnum if you're in Dallas.

I bought two 4" M64s last year. Paid $250 for the first one from a local private detective/security company liquidating their guns and I paid $375 on Gunbroker for a DAO M64 that had been re-imported from somewhere. I'm not sure why they're going for $600 now.....even snubbies.....

Weird thing is, I thought I had an almost full box of 22Mag in the locker when I bought it, but when I got home nada to be found and then I remembered I had given them away because I didn't have a gun in that caliber. No one in town has any either. Sooner or later though.

Dick before committing to the Model 64 (SS model 10) ,
Consider its kinda heavy and limited to .38 special loads,
Also for around the same money you can either get a 3" Model 65 in .38/357 magnum or the lighter model 12 or J frame 37 for CCW.

I just got a 3" 65..... first one I've seen for sale in 6-7 years......asking $495

a 12 or 37 IMHO are/ or should be limited to standard velocity .38s.

64 can go +p .38s...... or maybe +P+ (OK; big boom/flash>>>)

as a side note a 2" 64/10 can be carried crossdraw in a Don Hume"Jit Slide" holster with the barrel contained in the holster .....great car gun/driving package! Which is why I bought one!!!

Sorta my way of thinking too. I have an excellent condition 65 3" that I picked up for $400 and very early excellent 60 that I also got for $400. So I'm covered, I just thought if the 64 was right priced I might go for it.

Sounds like me, I like to complete the combination.
I ended with a 4" tapered barrel 64 to go with my 4" M&P's
