I would like to learn more about circa 2009
Mountain Gun S&W 625-9 45 Long Colt,stainless steel,
case harden hammer and trigger, 4" Bbl, with lock,
"Mountain Gun" printed on right side of barrel,
like new in the box.

What can you tell me about this Revolver?

The -7 was last pre-lock version for the model 625.
625-9 was introduced in 2001 and chambered in 45 Colt.
625-8 was pretty much the same but chambered in 45 ACP.
Anything in particular you're wanting to know?
I may be wrong but the hammer/trigger is most likely case-hardened colored MIM rather than actual case hardened forged parts.
ETA:
Seems that 3" M625's bring a premium but for all-around use (carry, shooting, etc.), I prefer a 4" and the Mtn. gun barrel contour is hard to beat IMO. Yours should be a nice gun for about anything you want to do with it.

A good friend gave me a 625-9 a few years ago. Yes, he is a very close friend, a brother from a different mother...It does have the diabolical MIM parts and the demonic internal lock...I have fired around a thousand or so rounds from it. Most have been my handloads using a 250gr LSWC at around 850fps. Functioning has been flawless and its accurate. Its comfortable to shoot with reasonable ammunition. Its the lightest N frame I own and is easy to carry in a good holster and belt rig...The double action trigger is one of the best factory triggers I have experienced and the single action is a crisp three pounds...The .45 Colt is my favorite handgun cartridge and it is great in my Henry and Marlin carbines. It will even work quite well when loaded with black powder, Pyrodex and Triple Seven. Considering the trouble I have finding pistol cartridge powder these days, that's pretty useful...In short, its been a fine gun and my favorite N frame and I have several. This is the only one with the execrable you-know-what parts and despicable you-know-what thing in its side that I own and those things have caused no problems for me.

With anticipation of this purchase.

Reloads, say, since you mentioned it....
What recommendions do you have?

Going through all my Handloader magazines and manuals,
here are two that I have reloaded for my son's Cimmaron Sheiff.

My Wyoming "Bear" load is 45 Long Colt reload with the 45-270-SAA Lead Cast
"Dave Scovill" bullet/Hodgdon Longshot powder/CCI LP 300 primer/R-P case/
firm bullet crimp/FPS 1040?
(use only in modern revolver that can handle 23,000 psi).

Another reload I have tried is 45 Long Colt reloads is with the
Hornady 250gr XTP #45200/Unique powder/CCI LP 300 primer/R-P case/
firm bullet crimp/FPS 800?
(from research approx.14000 psi).

Thank you all for your replies.

I've got a couple .45 COLT revolvers, S&W and Ruger. I really enjoy shooting the 625-7 Mountain Gun.

I've got several different loads. One resource is HANDLOADER magazine and web site...great number of loads.

Have you seen this article?

It covers many loads useable in a S&W .45 COLT (not ACP)revolver.

Minty? Is that a Cerkote gun in birdsong green?

S&W 625

Thank you for the Gun Notes article.
That is a valuable reference.

I really like my Handloader magazines
also for references.

The S&W revolver I am watching is the
Mountain Gun 45 Long Colt, S&W Model 625-7
45 LONG COLT MOUNTAIN GUN BOXED
Pre Lock N 625 627 629 Frame 45LC COMPLETE BOXED.

Am prepared for $1200, but pictures can be very deceptive.

I got my 625-7 off of Gun Auction 2 years ago...$725.

That was a great article, and I'm not even a particular fan of the M25 in .45 Colt.

John Linebaugh knows his stuff, and just as importantly, can put it all down in well written and entertaining way.

Where are we going to get authors who can replace these guys, when they retire?

I have a 625JM, which is 4" 45ACP. A 25-15 came to me this year. It is 45Colt, and 6.5" barrel. I enjoy both guns, but the JM goes to the range more than any other gun I own. Yes, they are both lock guns (2008), but don't tell them. (they might act up) Bob

S&W 625

The "Lock" S&W will be the next phase of collectable S&W.

I could care less about "Lock" or "No Lock". With nice
untouched S&W revolvers harder to find, I have looked
at the new production and they are nice too.

Now there is the "Sleeved" barreled S&W, and EDM
rifled barrels, oh boy.

You have two very nice Revolvers there, enjoy them.
They will be around longer then you or me.

I'm using two of Mr. Linebaugh's loads in my 25-13 Mountain Gun. I find the 13g of HS-6 to be stout and probably enough power for just about anything you need to do with a handgun. I've also tried some of the 24g H-110 loads and they're a handful. Probably needlessly hard on the gun. I do carry that load when hiking though.

S&W 625

Thank you for looking out for me.

I have been blocked from the bidding.

I insulted the Seller with asking too many questions.
I was just not going to hand over a bunch of money
to a person I do not know, if I had won.

It's a long story.

I do have a friend that's bringing in his friend's 629 MG 44mag 4"
w/box, papers, etc., next week to view. He asking $750.
Not a 45Lc but I will patiently wait, their still out there.

I'd definitely give $750 for a 629 MG, especially if it's a pre-lock version.

S&W 625

I believe my friend said it was a "Lock".

Like I said above, that doesn't matter, and they are the next phase of S&W collectables.

I'm hoping it is in descent shape and not worked on.
