Has anyone filled this out?

The government wants a lot of personal information, and is demanding it by law.

I thought the just needed to count the population?

They're collecting info already? I thought they didn't do that again until 2020.

In any case, the last time I got the 'long' form. I just answered my name and the # of people living at the address, left the rest of it blank. I never heard back from them.

I went thru this 7 or 8yrs. or so ago. Between their decade-ending/beginning census counts, the Census Bureau does something called, as I recall, the American Community Survey(correct me if that isn't accurate). Only a certain percentage of the population receives the form each year. It asks a large number of personal/intrusive questions. Supposedly a response is mandated by law, but I'm told a call to one's congressman can usually get them off one's back. And they will stay on your back until you do something like that to stop them. Expect phone calls about every week. If you don't answer after a certain period of time, they will send someone to your house.

What I ended up doing was answering the less intrusive questions and sending it in with a typed letter explaining in no uncertain terms that I never wanted to hear from them again. So far I haven't, but we'll see.

Regards,
Andy

Name and # people in the house sounds good. That out to put you in with the masses. Or just don't fill it out, lots and lots of people go unreported, why not join the crowd.

Internet research says fines can be from $100 to $5000, though no one has been fined since the 70's. I don't understand why they need to know race information? Can we not just be American? I believe Snowman is correct about the American Community Survey. Each person in the house needs to be profiled with the following:

If you don't fill it out they come knocking on your door.

They can come knock on the gate all they want........it is secured and the driveway is a 1/4 mile long, I can't hear them but the free range dogs let me know when someone is there. And if I don't recognize you on the video I don't let you in and the hounds keep yelping at you until you leave.....makes for entertainment in my part of Texas.

I got one years ago and felt the questions would set me up for identity theft and ignored it. Somehow they reached me by phone and I told them exactly how I felt. They then asked me a different set of questions which I was more comfortable answering.

My neighborhood starts just across the street from one of CCs ghettos. I dont think they care to attempt anykind of count in my area.

I did a phone survey for the USDA on the ranch yesterday. They called my son who is a very minor stockholder in the ranch and he referred them to me.

We have to do this every year. They even want to know if you have honey bees and how many. The gal taking the survey asked, How many acres on the ranch?" When I told her 45K acres, she said "Wow! Is that all in Mass?"

She was working on a random selection of registered stock holders.
My Son is a Marine and was stationed in Boston 15 years ago.

Makes you proud to know how well our taxes are being utilized.

I got hit with that nonsense a few years ago. They start easy and then ramp up their game, something like a bill collector agency will do. They ask a lot of stuff that simply put is NOY*B.

I keep getting stronger and stronger worded letters and about 5 copies of the forum they wanted filled. They went in the circular file. Then I started getting calls. After about 7 calls in about 5 months of this nonsense I got a call from the "office manger." with more threats. I live a ways from the cities and no one made a personal stop to my house that I'm aware of. Never found their junk stuck between the doors.

The last call I got I again told the drone that I will fill out the mandated by law official 10 year census ONLY. They will give up you just got to be tougher than they are. They threaten all sorts of nasty stuff if you do not comply but its a empty threat!

I remember back 2010 the first question was. "Are you Hispanic?'......Now, why this info was needed , God only knows......Can we expect in the 2020 US census.., "What bathroom do you most use?"

i'm a mirage; only seen by the light of a full moon .....cannot be included on any government forms.........no problem....have a nice day.....

All of their threats of filing charges are supposedly handled by the DOJ.. I have a friend that is a retired IRS agent. They threatened him with charges. He said "seeya in court."

The US Attorney's office doesn't have time to screw with picky stuff like that and he never heard from them again.

All the Census Bureau needs to do is go to Ruthie's FB page.

They will know how many cats we have, their names, what they look like (4000 images to choose from), the grandkids' names, what they look like (2000 images{priorities}), that I don't listen, I spend too much time on the web, I don't fold the sheets right, she found a clue, I didn't, my daily beer consumption..............
