2023 Smith & Wesson Virtual Event & New Product Unveil

I doubt it’s something they already have, just in a different caliber. But if that is the case, and they read this forum, they are probably releasing my .40S&W Shield Plus. :D

Maybe S&W is going to Proof test new firearm designs far better than with the last series of new firearms so No QC issues will show for buyers .
No More BETA Testers Required !

It might be something they already have in a brand new caliber. Federal is one of the listed partners.

I see a lot of people pushing the limits on how powerful 10mm ammo can be. A cartridge with a higher SAAMI pressure limit and perhaps a slightly larger bullet that could still work in a M&P style pistol would probably sell well enough to stick around. The power a lot of 10mm fans want without having to load their own ammo or buy from boutique ammo companies. And guns designed to be reliable with a cartridge that powerful.

Since they already brought us the 460 and 500 S&W cartridges a 12mm S&W would be very on brand for them.

Well, it certainly 'aint Federal. I bought a box of 180 grain American Eagle .40 S&W hardball yesterday. It was labeled as having a MV of 1,000 fps. I brought it home and compared it to a box of 180 grain American Eagle 10mm hardball. The 10mm is only listed at 1,030. The 10mm should easily be 200 fps faster than the .40 S&W. The original Norma load was a 200 grain bullet at 1,200 fps. I am seeing the opposite of your claim. I see a lot of manufacturers downloading the 10mm. If you want anything close to the designed performance of the 10mm, you've got to go with Buffalo Bore or Underwood.

Yeah federal ball ammo in 10mm is pretty much just .40 with a longer case. Sig 180gr ball ammo is rated at 1250fps so it's not too watered down. Probably the closest you're gonna get to full power fmj 10mm for less than $1/round.

Those issues have been fixed for a while now.

The new gun is meh. I think I like the folding one better. My son and I are in the video at the start when they show the people walking into the Grand Opening event. I have the blue shirt on with the black vest and black hat. My son is wearing the maroon hoodie next to me. I know that's not interesting to anyone, but me, but it was cool that we were in a S&W video. We did have a good time at the event. Glad to have S&W in Tennessee.

I see they have changed the lock holes to square and added multiplie locking ports.😁

See any protesters? Someone in another forum mentioned anti-gun groups were protesting the new gun before they even knew what it would be.

I had the same impression of the new gun you did. While I do have an AR I don't use it for home defense or shoot it very often so the new gun being AR compatible isn't a big plus for me. I have more M&P mags than Glock mags so that isn't a factor either. There was a lot of talk about the new gun being light but the FPC is nearly a pound lighter according to the S&W website.

I had a Ruger PC for a while but sold it because it was heavy, not as reliable as a gas operated AR and just wasn't as much fun to shoot as I thought it would be. Still thinking about getting a 9mm PCC but if I do and its a S&W it will be the FPC.

A S&W Eesonce , is it a big deal or just very late to the party . I say is its very late to the AR9 party . I had one since the late '90's.

I did not have any interest in the S&W FPC but it seems to be a more practical lite duty defense carbine as far as a 9mm goes that's foldable and lighter in weight , easy to carry in a day pack or over the shoulder bag if that fits in better than the s&w bag and at a lower price plus it comes with 2 extra 23 round mags attached .

The responce is just one more AR9 thats far to let to the party .
