22-250 Loads

Does anyone have any favorite 22-250 loads that they can share? I recently bought a Remington 700 in this caliber and have just started to load for it. I loaded 34 gr of H4895 with some 55gr FMJ bullets that I had on hand. They shot pretty well. I have heard that Reloader 15 and Varget work well in this caliber. I would be interested in hearing about your experiences loading this caliber.

I like 40 gr. Nosler, CCI br primer, and 37.7 gr varget 2.502 oal. That is .010 off the lands in my rifle. Not the fastest load out there but shoots accurate and does a good job on groundhogs.

Nosler 55 gr BT over 36.0 gr Varget with Fed Benchrest primer. Seating depth depending on your individual chamber, I have found about .015" off touching the lands shows the best accuracy. I get 3716 fps and under 1/4" @ 100 yds accuracy. My favorite Prairie Dog load.

I like 50g hornady v-max and 40g H414 in my tikka rifle

Sierra 55 gr. flat base SP over 34 to 34.5 grs. H-4895, CCI primers, neck sized only cases, & seating according to your chamber. I like OAL to be about .015" off the lands. I get 1/4" groups or less at 100 yards.

A lot of powders work well in the .22 Varminter, but I've been using IMR4007 since it came out and am very happy with it.

I always loaded IMR4320 in my Ruger 77V. My load did about 3550 fps with a 55 grain bullet in a 24" barrel. My rifle liked all the flat base bullets, but it was really something with the 53 grain Sierra ot the 55 grain Speer. At the time I used WW primers.

A quality 55 grn bullet, usually a Nosler BT or Sierra HPBT, and H380 has always worked well for me. Tinker with the powder charge and seating depth to find what your rifle likes.
