"OF COURSE" was my first thought when I saw this thread. I can no more imagine life without .22 bolt guns than I could without a pocket knife or work gloves. Here are just a couple that share their home with me; in this case both my bride's and my first guns, a Savage Model 3C and a Remington 581. Also scattered about the place are a Ruger American and a Marlin 25, and there is a very real possibility there may be more that I simply can't recall at the moment. Generally, they live nearby an exterior door with a loaded magazine in place, and there's one in the barn (of course.)

Bolt action .22 rifles simply aren't optional, they are a requisite of a balanced lifestyle.

I didn't think about it until this thread.

I gave her father his first gun - that bolt action 22 Zastava that her mother is helping her shoot.

I gave her sister her first gun.2008 Birthday Present.webp

A bolt action 22 - a Crickett.

I gave her mother, my daughter, her first gun. A bolt action 22. No picture, but an Anshutz Woodchucker.

And when she turned five I gave her her first gun. Also a bolt action 22. A Brno garden gun.

And one of my personal favorites is this Husqvarna bolt action 22. I know it's older than I am - 1944.

I have two of those ZKM 468 garden guns, made by CZ in 1950. I bought both from Allan's Armory several years ago. They have been used to get my two grandsons, both now 11, started shooting. And their sisters will use them too in a couple years. I think they are great for teaching the basics of shooting and gun-handling and the boys really enjoy them. They started a couple years ago and this summer had a chance to move up to shooting my AK-74 Kalashnikov rifle.

We've already worked on Sullivan's (L) trigger discipline since this pic was taken. 😉 😊

Johnny on the Tantal AKM-74...hey, it's a .22, right? 😊

And for a while, I owned this Winchester Model 67. It belonged to a buddy who needed cash. I helped him out and in a few years, he bought it back from me. I hated to see it go but it was the right thing to do. Sadly, he passed a couple years ago and the rifle was taken by his son, I believe.

Who doesn't love bolt action 22's? My favorite is the Ruger 77/22 that I bought around 1986. It's the iron sight version that I guess is kind of scarce. It's more than accurate enough for my shooting needs and it looks the way a rifle should.

Might be a little off-topic but my all time fav is my Remington model 62.

My grandfather purchased it new in 1938 and passed away soon after and it was passed down to my father who was 13 at the time. Fast forward….my father taught me to shoot it when I was 6 years old. He formally handed it down to me when I was 13 and I shot it extensively in my mid to late teens.
After destroying the finish by cleaning the surface rust off a few times using steel wool and oil (young and stupid), as well as breaking a few parts it sat in my gun safe for years. Fast forward yet again….after I retired I decided to try and find someone to repair and refinish it. Found a shop in Illinois and 6-8 months later I got it back looking like a brand new shiny penny.

To this day it still shoots spot on.

Last year I planned on making a case for it which I've done for many of my pistols. Was starting to layout the design and found some somewhat inexpensive breakdown shotgun cases online and decided to save myself some headaches. Modified it to fit the rifle and am happy with the results.

Do you, by chance, have paperwork on them? I was attempting to put the safety on and I got the bolt half disassembled and can't get the thing back together. I'm looking for an owner's manual or disassembly instructions or anything like that.

I love these .22 threads. Over the years I have accumulated many Winchester .22s. I have many of their bolt action models from the early single shots and the later magazine fed models. I don't shoot as much now because of age and failing eyesight. I still get out some with my grandson and plink some tin cans. Here's a few of my group.

Mossberg made many very high quality 22 bolts. They were less money and sometimes odd looking but to millions of kids they were the cats meow. Here is a model 142A made to mimic a us carbine. Carbine length, 7 shot magazine, sling on the side like the Carbine, fold-able forearm can be used as a handle. The first made (like this one) had a wood forearm and a barrel on the bolt end. Came with a beautiful target sight or a 2 1/2 power scope.
