For those people who have chronographed their Jet loads, what kind of extreme spreads do you get? I measure the powder load in all my Jet reloads one at a time by hand and the absolute best uniformity I get is an ES of around 100 fps. Most of the time it is in the 150-220 fps ES range. The factory ammo is always between 75 to 95 fps so I know the capabilities.
I have tried all different kinds of powder/primer combinations and have now started to analyze the other components. All I can find for bullets that work are the Hornady .222 jet bullets and Sierra .223 40 gr Hornet bullets. Since the factory ammo is cannelured I was wondering if that contributed toward consistency, especially if something like H110 were to be used.
I was wondering if anyone put cannelures on their bullets? I have a cannelure machine and have cannelured a few of the Sierras but have yet to load any.
My reloads shoot fairly well at 25 yards but I want to work this out before I go any farther.
I would love to come across some Remington factory bullets but have never seen any for sale.
Any long time Jet loaders have any sage advice?
