Probably a stupid question, but . . . Can I shoot .22 shorts in a model 17-6 K22 ? Since it is chambered for .22LR, I am wondering if the shorter cartridge could lead to some problems.
Sure you can. You can shoot .22 Longs, too, if you can find them.
The only problem you may have is a bit of fouling in the chambers. A good cleaning is all that's needed to solve that.

Snake shot may be one of the best reasons to own a .22 revolver! It cannot be shot out of any SA type...well, I guess you could, but it doesn't eject at all.
