22 single shots

I found 2 22lr top break single shots yesterday. One in a pawn shop and the other in a gun shop. Both have the flat frames. One has broken factory grips and the other decent aftermarket grips. The interior of both barrels is good, but, one has some pits near muzzle on outside. 70% of blue finish remaining and seem to function perfectly. Both around $900

I have way to many handguns now, but these do interest me as curios. Are they worth what is being asked?

Yes, $900.00 is a decent price. Do either serial number start with a Zero?????

I have a 3rd model perfected (SA/DA) in EC and I love that thing. It's one of the 90 guns built in 1920 with duplicate serial numbers. A little while back I got outbid on a 4th model. Now I wish I had kept bidding. Never saw a 4th and might not ever see another one.

Edit to say: Paid $1400 for the 3rd.

I doubt they would let me load either in the stores. I never thought to look at serial numbers even knowing about club guns.

My hesitation is from the fact that even having just got off a job that paid well I have just shelled out over 3K for a nice C Sharps in 45-90 and a 1911 set up with 2 barrels that fires either 9mm or 22TCM.

And if the cartridge sticks up just over 1/8" (.132"), it's an early Olympic Model; and if just under 1/8" (.105"), it's a later Olympic model---the change made due to complaints about difficulties loading. (This short throat continued into the Straight Line series, but with the cartridge sticking up only about half as much as in the later 3rd Model Olympics (.055")----and still the complaints continued. At that point S&W gave up trying to help the great unwashed shoot better scores, and later Straight Lines have standard chambers.)

Also---Jinks tells us any 3rd Model numbered 9548 and above is an Olympic Model, and so far I've only come across one pistol numbered above 9548 that isn't---call it the exception that proves the rule.

And now that I think about it---20 some odd years later, the Straight Lines have a recessed chamber. That being the case, the amount the cartridge sticks out would be that .055" plus whatever the rim thickness is on a .22 Long Rifle cartridge (the depth of the recess actually)---SO------that .055" I said the cartridge sticks out of an early Straight Line chamber is actually pretty damn near, or exactly the same as it is on a later 3rd Model Olympic----never mind I should have thought about that at the time.(!!!!)

If it looks like this, it's a 3rd model single shot. This one dates to March 1914. Depending on condition, it could be worth as much as a grand.

I'm thinking a pistol such as that shown in Post #7 would sell for some more than "a grand".

A standard 10", $1200

An early Olympic 10", $1660

A late Olympic 10", $1670

A 6", $4000

An 8", $4000

Just as an FYI, the stocks are the same as those used on the .22/32 HFT's. FWIW, I just saw a pair for sale asking $175 so that may help in any decisions.
