Anyone here know if the front sight on a 22a-1 can be removed? I have the standard black version and I would like to install a front fibre optic sight on it like the one on the stainless version.

My front sight appears to be cast with the barrel and is not replaceable. The rear sight is not a problem for me. However the recoil spring is pretty strong compared to my Model 41 .

Front blade is not removable you have 2 choices ,1 paint the front blade a very bright color or 2 buy a new barrel from S&W with a fiber optic front sight , the 2nd choice is very expensive to the tune of 230 bucks just for the barrel plus shipping. Good Luck.

Thanks stumpie, painting the front sight a fluorescent orange might be the only way to go.
I would have to agree there , paint is much cheaper and in my view will do the job without the high price tag.

I have painted the sight on a couple of my guns with fluorescent green which works better for me and a couple have hi-vis green that have sights I could change . Another option could be , is to order an extra barrel from S&W's web site . I did and I put a reddot on the original barrel .
