I remember walking to the gas station a mile from my grandfathers house when I was pretty young. Most often to buy 22s for myself but I also remember going to get 30-30 for my dad. A kid buying "deer shells" at a gas station... imagine.

The same kid carried a pocket knife to school every day all the way through college.

.... and the world ended. That one did at least.

I got my Boy Scout pocket knife on my 8TH birthday in 1976. Barring courthouses, airports, and a couple bars that felt the need to wand people, I have had a knife in my pocket or on my belt ever since. Noone who knows me even asks if I have one. They just look to see if I'm wearing pants.
