25-2 possible project thoughts? **shooting post added**

Howdy,

Local has a 25-2 in rough shape(hurricane victim) missing, rear sight, grips are rough under the grips are ok but pits all over. Timing and lock up are spot on smooth action. chambers and barrel rifling are minty.

I've always wanted one of these i love the way 45 shoots out of a revo.

BUT is the juice worth the squeeze

I can probably get her for about 2 bills out the door.

Thoughts suggestions appreciated.

I love projects.
I would grab it at that price.
Stocks will save.
As for the finish, I'd smooth the pits then sand blast and parkerize.

For $200 I wouldn’t think twice. Have it refinished and use it as a regular shooter.

I’d be buying it! Jovino-style snub, couple other things I can think of. Go for it, that’s cheap fun ‘n learnin’.

I would also consider a TK Custom moon clip conversion to give it LC/ACP duality.

Edit: Those smarter than I pointed out that the -2 variant was factory cut for moons.

I don't think you can go wrong for $200. Probably recover those $$ just parting it out (TH, TT, stocks, rear sight etc.) if you so choose. I would grab it and enjoy pondering the possible project options.

I'd buy that all day. Round butt it, chop it to 2.5" and cut it for moons.

Clean and lube, add a rear sight, enjoy shooting for the rest of your days.

That would be a fun project! For $200 you really can't go wrong, and when cleaned up the stocks are worth almost that much. I'd think about shortening the barrel to 3" or 5" and refinishing. Good luck with your decision!

The frame don't look to bad. I have rear sights, 44 mag cylinders and 45 barrels, I would ream a 44 cylinder to 45 colt and replace the barrel and have another nice looking 45 colt. But, then I also have a set of blue tanks.

An N frame would have to look pretty sad for me not to buy it for $200

Rear sights are out there. As a 25-2 it is already cut for moon clips. I'd make sure the innards weren't affected by the water, give the grips a little attention and then shoot the daylights out of it before I decided whether to make it prettier or modify it in any other way.

Another who would grab it for $200 and do a Magnaport Combat package or similar.

Just curious, it’s a 25-2, does it not already require the use of moon clips? Just curious about the suggestions to “modify it for moon clips”

No collector value left in that one, sad. For $200, I'd buy it, clean it, see how it shoots. If it's a solid shooter, refinish it and enjoy it until the cows come home.

So the gun is a victim of the recent hurricanes?? Sea Water is incredibly destructive,, salt sucks for guns
