25 ACP Pistols

Well, Evan "Stopping Power" Marshal said that he'd been to the morgue numerous times to see bodies with .22 or .25 caliber holes in the chest or head, but never a body with a .44 caliber hole in the big toe.

Weak ? yeah, the 25 acp platforms are small and the cartridge has very limited capacity. Most larger cartridges of any type generally have more to recommend them than the 6.35x15 Browning. But in spite of anecdotes about folks swatting them away like flies or them bouncing off tee shirts, I don't think I'd volunteer to be shot by one . . . .

There are a lot of guns/cartridges I have little use for out there but I simply choose to shoot something else. I can appreciate the history and engineering design of most all of them. I find the whole subject endlessly fascinating. To each his own . . . .

25 ACP or 22LR

I believe medical examiners would tell us the pip squeak calibers account for a lot of bodies. One of my daughters worked on many as an ME in Boston; now working elsewhere.

Years ago I had some neighbors who were having some serious marital discord. To make a long story short, she came home one night and began to empty a .25 ACP at him. He put his hand in front of his face to protect himself. One went through his wrist and stuck right in the middle of his forehead. He says that they plucked it out with tweezers at the ER. Most of the other shots missed. He ended up with another superficial wound in an arm. Nothing very serious. Got released from the ER the same night he went.

That's my .25 ACP story. He still sports a perfectly round .25 caliber scar in the middle of his forehead to this day.

What happened to the wife, I have to ask? Did she do hard time for attempted murder, or get a slap on the wrist?

I have quite a fondness for the so-called mouse guns. And most of them are in .25acp. I think everybody should have a gun for those times when you can't carry a gun. ;)

The little Walther is a .22 and the Beretta center right is a .32. But all the rest are .25s. :D

One simply must have a Baby Browning. Useless, but cool.

I think one of the reasons calibers like the 41 Remington RF, 22 Short and 25 ACP were created wasn't to stop with a shot but, aside from fitting in a small gun, was the recipient having to go through some pretty primitive surgery and risk infection, sepsis and other complications. The best stopping power being that which makes someone decide to not take a step forward.

Just tossing it out there.

I've got a Colt .25 and like it a lot. It is what it is, not a magic round or a man stopper, but better than NO pistol at all. In the movie "Flame and Citreon" one was put to action saving the life of Flame. Baby Browning. (good movie in Danish, I believe.)

Here is my Baby Browning at home with its big brothers.

My brother really likes mouse guns. I was at a local gun shop when one of the proprietors walked in with a Star .25 automatic he wanted to sell. I told him my brother might be interested in it, so I put the proprietor on the phone with my brother. My brother bought the gun, and on my last visit with him last month, we went to the local indoor range and we were both amazed how well it shot.

I have a soft spot for these littles guys. I'm sure there are thousands of bodies laying in the ground around the world that would curse the "ineffective" little .25. I have this German Ortgies from ca.1922 in .25 acp. Fun to shoot. I'm also a Seecamp ( my EDC ) fan, and according to their website and forum, the .25 will be re-introduced late this year due to Seecamp owner demand; my order is already in. :)

The .25 acp is arguably the worst SD round ever made. While it is anemic and may not be as effective as a good high velocity .22 LR, the two things it has going for it as a carry round is that it is a centerfire cartridge and is more reliable than a rimfire. The second is that it is much more moister and water resistant than a .22 rimfire cartridge.

I am guilty of owning a vintage Colt 1908 Vest Pocket Pistol in 25 acp. however I just bought it to sort of complete my Pocket Pistol set. I have shot it a bunch of times and it is completely reliable, well made and fun to shoot - amazingly accurate as well for a tiny pocket pistol with barely any sights. It would not be my first, second or third choice for a CCW that's for sure!

I hated to tell the rest of the story because it is kind of sad. When she got done with him, she went to a closet and pulled out a .257 Roberts bolt gun. She stuck the barrel in her mouth and pulled the trigger. She did not survive.

How to make a Colt 1908 Vest Pocket look big; Compare it to this micro sized Walther.

I’d like to read Folder No. 20. Does anyone have a copy?

Yeah, it appears one Arnold Forbush was out walking his pet iguana when set upon by the bear. Distracting the bruin by allowing it to chew on his arm, Forbush produced his Colt 25 from his pocket with his good arm and attempted to empty it into the bear's ear.
Unfortunately, it jammed after the third shot, but fortunately one projectile found it's way down the ear canal and into the brain. Not bothering to retrieve his detached appendage, Arnold and his iguana retreated a safe distance and watched as the bear thrashed and eventually expired.

Nawww . . . not really. Have no idea what Folder No. 20 says, but it coulda happened like that . . . . I could write this stuff . . . . :D:D:D:D
