This parade has been controversial to say the least. As a veteran myself, I do not understand why.
Military parades are very rare in this country. Only a small number in my lifetime and then not very big themselves. Many of our allies have them quite regularly.
Personally, I think it's a good idea. Most citizens have no knowledge of the military except what they see on the news...and that is usually the worst end. To see it on display from time to time gives the military a chance to showcase themselves...to show off...to the people they are protecting.
(BTW the United States has the best army in the world...but still second to the Marines! Oohrah!;))

I used to hate parades when I was in the Corps. If the parade was scheduled for noon the general would tell the colonel to have the troops there at 10 to get set up and by the time the schedule got passed down through the chain of command to platoon level you'd end up showing up hours early and standing around, usually in either cold or hot weather, waiting for things to actually begin.

My favorite was always change of command ceremonies... and I mean that with as much sarcasm as I can humanly muster.

Hence the old "Hurry up and wait!" motto of our armed services.

For my part, I took Basic in the Second Armored Division at Ft. Hood in 1959. Hell on Wheels became Hell on Heels to us, because we marched everywhere we went. Two years later when I made my way back to 2nd Armored, I was in 15th Cavalry and finally got to ride, even if it was an M59 APC.

Only parade/march past in my Army days 1967-1971 was my BCT graduation at Fort Dix in 1967. The French have a big parade in Paris for Bastille Day.

I marched in a few pass and Reviews as I was smart enough to dodge parade duty.

It was a good parade and I’m glad as a Nation we did it, Happy 250 U.S. Army…. Heres to another 250!! Hooah!

A while back in Okinawa, SF Softball Team was playing HQ Troops Team.
SF Cheer - ended with - Airborne, airborne, all the way!
HQ Troops cheer - Backspace, backspace, punctuate, punctuate!
Congratulations and Hand Salute Army on your 250th!
