28-2 ...price seems a "bit" high...

He probably misunderstood the gun shop owner, that was the price for 2 model 28's.

The 28's are awesome guns but were made to be a "poor man's Model 27" because both PD's and civilians wanted a no-frills version of the 27. The fact that dealers are asking prices that high for 28's trying to cash in on the fact that prices for "pre Lock pre MIM" guns are going up is ridiculous. If I had the money I would buy a brand new Classic Model 27 6" just to spite all the "MIM and Lock guns suck" people:D

950.00 ?, for a pair maybe. When I see this kind of BS I think of dumb
a**** looking for that rare person just a bit lower on the food chain.

I own two Highway Patrolman's, M28 and am in both at the mid $550 range. Both are Ex +. Some sucked will probably get that one at the akking price. Try Gun Broker.com.

Maybe dealers in the Chicago area have to have a premium just to stay in business? That's all I can think of.

The 4" barrel increases the value a little, the condition helps too, but I can't see the price reaching $700, let alone $950. The dealer must be fishing for suckers who whip out the credit card w/o any research or even much thought.

In the late 70's and eraly 80's every gunshow dealer had a M/28 on their table, you could hardly give them away for $250.00. They used to be the "red headed step-child" of S&W revolvers. How times have changed!

even in the early 2000s they could be had for 300 or less. and thats here in California.

maybe 6-7 years ago i bought a 66 vintage LNIB 28-2 4 inch with box and tools for $400 sold it 2 years ago for a little more than that as i wasnt shooting it much but i sure wish i had it back. finding a 4 incher now is like hens teeth. i did pay 450-ish for a pre-28 6 incher with rubber grips early last year. doesnt this seller know theres a recession on ?
hes huffing paint.

I gave $499 last month for a 28-2 6" in very decent condition, strictly a shooter, no box or papers, on GB. I thought that was a fair price, neither too high nor grab it while you can low. Since then I've seen several others in that price range, give or take $50 or so.

There is a 28-2, 6 inch barrel currently listed on the forum for $500 shipped. Tello your friend to take a look over here.

At $950 it must be the Mayor Rahm Emanuel Commemorative . . . the barrel is plugged and the cylinder rotates backwards . . . .

I see them under $500. and over 7 anib.
Seems like every few months demand changes.
High today low tomorrow. No rhyme or reason to it.

Yes....I think the seller is high....so is the price.

:D:D:D:D

You guys stop that! Both of these made coffee come out my nose!

I bought a "true" NIB 28-2 6" from a forum member for $550.00 shipped, in January and was very pleased. But I also thought that was about top dollar for that gun.
