Yours are target stocks and if that is the original box it should say on the box.

Mike if your gun dates to 62 the stocks absolutely should have the diamonds.

Very nice 28-2 and the diamond targets are a big plus,
IMO likely a late 1968 to early 1969, as for the diamond targets shipping on the gun the only way to be sure is with a factory letter,
BTW while the order came down to delete the diamond a few years earlier the supply of diamond target stocks lasted a little bit ... 1969 might be pushing it though.
The non diamond Magnas pictured above would definately not be original to a 1962 gun...1967 maybe, 1968 not so likely so if you find out your S302000 gun shipped shipped with Magnas you would be looking for the non diamond style pictured just above.

The box matches. It has an s in the grips area.

Well color me embarrassed. I got them out and you guys are correct. Now I have to change my documentation. Don't feel nearly as bad now as I put non-original target stocks on the gun.

Yes, your grips (stocks) are "factory" they just might not be the correct factory stocks. A photo of the left side of your firearm would be appreciated so we can see if your stocks are "relieved" or not.

So I believe the "S" indicates a Service style grip, a "T" would indicate the Target style that are on the gun. So someone upgraded to better grips.
If it should have diamonds, it would be these...

An S on the label in the stocks box means square butt. This would denote magna stocks. This was mentioned in two letters I have on 28-2 guns. ST would denote square butt , target stocks.

Your 28-2 most likely shipped in early 1969. The S in the stock box indicates the revolver shipped with Magna stocks. They would not have a diamond around the escutcheon and escutcheon nut.
