I did not grow up in a "gun" family. A friends dad taught me to shoot. The first handgun I ever shot was a 4" 28-2. A couple yes ago I traded for this one, ended up with about $265 in it. I have shot about 3,500 rounds out of it and carry it deer hunting. I have changed to top fingergroove checkered house grips. S prefix from 1964-65

Model 28s are work horses but the Model 27's get most of the attention. That is a nice one, has it been refinished?

Yeah pretty sure it's a refinish. It has held up well in a kydex chest holster during hunting season. It sure is a workhorse

Looks like you got a great shooter 28! If I hadn't already collected model 27's I would collect the 28 for sure. It's a 27 except for the lack of fancy and shoots just as good.

I have owned a ton of old S&w revolvers. Had an unfired 520 with no turn ring 20 yrs ago, let it go when I was young and dumb. Wish I had that back.
