28-3 Serial Number Help

I'm taking a look at a 15-3 the serial on the butt is 3K52104. I'm finding it almost impossible to find serial numbers. Thank you for any help. Richard

That serial number should be 1972 for a K Frame a model 28 in the title is an "N" Frame

***Edited*** I think I may have misread your post? Are you asking where the serial number is located on the firearm?

Sorry for that, I can see where it was confusing. I was actually looking for the date of manufacturer and should have stated such. Thank you for providing this.
