Went to small show today and found a 28-3 four inch that appears unfired. Barrel marked 357 ctg. Highway Patrolman. There is a light turn line on the cylinder, but no evidence of being fired. No marks on it anywhere and the grips are unnumbered. No box and no tools. #960097. Now would like to find a box for a 4 inch. Got it for what I think was a good price, my first 28. Anyone know when this shipped, many thanks, the toolman.

Are you sure that is the correct serial number? It should have one or more letters before the number. The M-28 was discontinued in 1986 so yours was shipped between '82 - '86.
N960097 is from 1983.
