A friend has a Highway Patrolman I may buy from him. It's an N prefix pinned and recessed with a 6" barrel. He is the original owner has the box and papers. He probably only fired about 50 rounds through it. It is in very nice shape. No holster wear or bluing wear and almost no cylinder turn line.

What is a fair price to offer him? Any ideas...

Thank You!!

So a Model 28-2 in perfect shape? With no box or tools it's worth around $800. With box and tools maybe $1100? I don't know how much either of you likes the other so those are numbers I see on the inter webs.

I just paid $750 for a mint 28-2, 6" bbl, target grips in the box. IMO a fair price in the marketplace today.

Normally those are 4" and command a higher price. If it were a 4" you're probably looking at $1000. I don't know the market for 6" as well as some here would. If I preferred that barrel length maybe $800.

I won a 28 - 2 4" box, papers, tools in unfired condition recently because they were the work horse model they are harder to find mint than than the model 27. Anyhoo I paid $1,250

For early in 2025, I'd say what has been described is likely to be in the $800 area. If it was a 4 inch barrel, about $200 more, but the 6 inch barrel Model 28 is simply not as popular of an item.

I just bought this minty 6" Model 28-2 with box from a friend...he insisted that I only pay him $600 although I researched it and told him it was worth $900-$1K. In your case, I think $700-$800 would be a fair friend's price.

Just picked up a 6" 28-2 with beautiful grips for $650. These are still a good buy with reasonable prices available.
