Found a very nice 4" Nickle Model 29-2 in a shop today. Have not bought it yet, but am trying to talk myself out of it. Overall I'd say 98 to 99%. Yes, its that nice. I didn't think to ask if it came with a box, but I'm guessing no. Price was $799.99 plus tax. I asked, no wiggle room. Serial #N3289xx. Tag said 1975, so am assuming thats the YOB. Red ramp, white outline, pinned and recessed with smooth target grips I think rosewood, but maybe Goncola Alves.

Anyway, what say ye? Go get it or forget it?

That's the going rate (or close to that) at most of the gun shows I go to. No doubt though, if you look around and wait long enough more are out there and you might be able to beat the price or find one with the presentation case and tools for the same price.

Bottom line is, if you have the Mod 29 disease you probably should go ahead and get it as long as you won't miss any meals because of the purchase. Like someone has said, they don't make them anymore.

I have several 29's; all blue except for one pristine 4" nickel...and it has become my favorite.

If you get it....post some pics...
Here's mine. Good luck with your decision.

$800 is about right it would be better if it has the pres. box and tools which will run you give or take a hundred bucks to buy the box and tools/ papers. It is not a bad deal so go for it if you want it. 4" N Frames always hold their value in the shape you describe. Maybe he has the box and just didn't want to display it but be sure to ask boxes mean nothing to some people and everything to us!

I would have bought it on sight! I love nickel 29's and I do not own a 4 inch barrel length.

That's my next gun. Well after the mod. 48... Lol. The 4" NFrames just speak to me for some reason. Thanks for sharing.

Get it while you have the chance! 4" N Frames are uncommon specially in Nickel! I passed on your same revolver a year ago and have been kicking myself ever since!! Good Luck with this one1

Thanks for all the responses and pics. I've always been a blued kind of guy and prefer the 6 1/2" "Dirty Harry" version, but I don't know, somehow this one spoke to me. Unfortunately, it'll be about a week before I can make it back to the shop, so we'll see........

I have bought both a 29-2 nickel and the same condition 57 for $800. each, so I would say that is "going" money. Also, "they aren't making any more".

Over the last 4-5 years, I have accumulated 7 of these magnificent beauties. Stocks include magnas, target, stag, ivory and MOP. At 800., I would have bought it for reasons already mentioned. What baffles me somewhat is NEW 'N's (and the key-hole thing) are priced above that and don't have near the appeal of the P/R......oh well. I'll get pics someday soon. IMO, yeah....do it; regret be a looong time. gr
