What are you going to do with it? Collection? That is a pretty long barrel for a general purpose .44 mag.

If it is for shooting, I think it is too much. If you plan on doing heavy shooting, see if it is a 29-3E with the endurance package.

I think that you should Google it and survey sold prices. It is a bit rare, but its features seem to say silhouette, while it is still a 29, which is not quite the frame that most folks shot (shoot?) silhouette loads through. Nevertheless, it is somewhat attractive as an oddity. I passed up the opportunity to get one some twenty years ago for the above reasons, but each person has his own criteria for collecting.

How strong are your wrists and forearms? This isn't your daddy's Bullseye revolver. Like a boat, there are 2 happy days owning a 10-5/8" silouette gun: the day you buy it, the day you sell it. In between those two days, ownership and shooting can be a challenge, entertaining, or fun depending on your experience.

My advice in a word: NO. Spend your hard earned dollars on something else. Is there a wood presentation case for the $1075 asking price? No wood case, the price fell to $925 to $1,000 max.

Does it look like this one? 6" barrel? Or, is it the 10" barrel. The 6" is called the Classic Hunter, and was a Lew Horton special edition, in which Shooting Times ran a contest to name the new revolver back in the early 80'swhen it came out.

The 10" was the actual Silhouette model.

I was about to start a thread on this 29-3 when I came across this. I don't want to highjack the current thread but I will throw this in and then maybe start something new. 6", non fluted, full underlug, 4 position front sight, .44 mag. Pictures with new thread in the AM. Could this be the Lew Horton mentioned previously? "A" prefix serial number.

The $1075 is too much for either version !
