I was short the cash back in the day when I had an opportunity at 29-5 5" Classic DX,, I chased it for about 6 weeks, and someone else ended up buying it, LOL
I do have a nice 29-5 5" classic, that I have enjoyed for almost 10 years,, very fine revolvers from one of Smith and Wesson's "revival periods"..
I did score a gorgeous 29-5 6 1/2" Classic DX, which I foolishly traded for a 1991 Colt Commander and 150 bucks,, not even on the same planet.. the Colt was OK, and I actually scored some hits on cardboard at 100 yards, lol.

Those are the early Hogue Monogrips with the medallions. They are tough to find now. They are what the 29-5 came with.
I got shortchanged, Mine's just a Classic, it's okay though because it shoots like a rifle!

Plus he got five of the front sight inserts. Most examples are missing those…
Very nice example. A 5" 29 like that has long been one of my grail guns as well.
Grips very pricey!
These grips with the "silver" medallion ARE very hard to find and they sell for a premium ususally at least $100 and sometimes up to $150...
I guess beauty IS in the eyes of the beholder! They look pretty good to me!

That is the icing on the cake. I paid about $1300 total, including buyers premium, shipping and transfer. I still can't believe I got it for that. IMO they are worth much more.

Much, much more for the 5" Classic DX, with all 5 sights, and two pair of grips.. I believe the combats are "Murado wood?", if memory serves.. any 29-5 Classic is an amazing piece of machinery,, some of the best Smith and Wesson's ever produced, exceptional fit and finish, and they tend to be very accurate..
