I have a model 29 no dash that I inherited. I haven't shot it since before dad passed but am interested in getting it back out to the range.

I know it's a reloading related question, but since it's specific to pre endurance package n-frame and most of us are reloaders, I figured it best posted here.

I would like to put together a decent magnum load without the risk of beating it to death. Is 1200 fps 240gr XTP pushing the limits? Not really interested in .44 Special type loads. I plan on passing this down to one of my children eventually, so if Specials are the limit, it will just get put into the back of the safe as I have other 29's to shoot.

My standard load is 24.0 gr H110 with 240 XTP and I definitely am NOT going to shoot that load in this pistol.

I've been using 23 grains H110, with the 240 grain XTP. No problems. I think the larger grain 275 ,300 and 325 bullets are what shakes things up.
