found one at the lgs like new no box / papers. how many were sold any collector value? I believe its a 29-3 has orig grips firm 800.00.
thanks for your time and info

I think they might be a future 'sleeper' collectible since they weren't real popular when new. I gave $650 for mine new in box a couple years ago. I put the original grips and cylinder in the box and had a non-fluted cylinder fitted for occasional shooting. It's a neat shooter.

While not technically called the Silhouette model, I have one of the 29-3's with a 6" full lug barrel and unfluted cylinder with the 4 position front silhouette sight. I believe it was called the Classic Hunter and was a Lew Horton model. It is magna-ported, and most of the similar versions I have seen have also been magna-ported. I haven't seen too many of these around, although SCSW3 does mention it was a order of 5000 for Lew Horton.

Saw a 10" barrel 29 in a LGS last month for 1,000$, if I had the change at the time I would have offered him 900$.
Gone now :(

I have the September 1987 shooting times with that gun on the cover, have wanted one for awhile but passed on one this summer like nib, probably shouldn't have

I bought mine 3 or 4 years ago, mint condition with a presentation case, and I think I paid around $550. I think the presentation case in itself is a pretty rare bird! The only thing I did was to add a set of Hogues. It's a pretty nice shooter, I really like the fine sights that Smith put on them.

Here's my Classic Hunter, bought back when they originally were manufactured. Tuned by Andy Cannon, the ever present Hogue stocks, and a Millett rear sight. This is a fantastic shooter. Mine is not ported though, I have never seen one that was.
