Excuse me if you have seen this already.
USA Today Poll on Gun ownership
Obama's new Attorney General, Eric Holder, has already said this is one of his major issues. He does not believe the 2nd Amendment gives individuals the right to bear arms. This takes literally 2 clicks to complete. Please vote on this gun issue question with USA Today. Then pass the link on to all the pro gun folks you know. Hopefully these results will be published later this month. This upcoming year will become critical for gun owners with the Supreme Court's accepting the District of Columbia case against the right for individuals to bear arms.
Here's what you need to do:
First - vote on this one.
Second - launch it to other folks and have THEM vote - then we will see if the results get published.
The Question is:
"Does the Second Amendment give individuals the right to bear arms?"

When I went to it, the results were 97% said people had gun rights. I'm sure the massive jerk Eric Holder would find some way to trivialize the results and suggest it was flooded by "rednecks" or some other critical term for those who believe in the 2nd Amendment.

People like Holder don't give a damn what average people think, I'm sure he considers himself too wise and important to kowtow to the electorate. What an a** he is. Don

I don't want to tick anybody off, but if I voted I'd have to truthfully say no. The Second Amendment, more properly known as Article Two of the Bill of Rights, doesn't GIVE any such right.
Nor do any of the other rights enumerated therein. It refers to that PRE-EXISTING right not being infringed. That is an important distinction. I respect your reasoning for this post, and we would agree on our rights, but this question was obviously constructed by someone who has no idea about our Constitutional rights, and they likely hate this one.

Would appear that you're at odds with SCOTUS in Heller vs DC. Don

He's right(pun intended :D) on. The Heller v DC ruling was that the 2nd protects, not gives, the right. Perhaps getting close to arguing semantics but it's important. Not all unalienable rights are mentioned in the Constitution but that doesn't mean a certain right doesn't exist, does it.
