Boggy Head Rifle Range in the Francis Marion National Forest is closed for the second for time this year.
This time it a was a 40 acre fire that destroyed the facility.
I suggested a ways back that a Boggy Head 'users group' be formed to help take care of it but haven't heard a word back from anyone.
Boggy Head has one main fault and one main advantage.
First, it's always been unsupervised. Back in the old days it was established pretty much for deer hunters to zero their rifles. Over the years it turned into the 'wild west.
Second, that freedom allowed us shooters to experiment easily with different targets , chronos, untypical ballistics, etc. Several times I had the place to myself. It was freedom.
