Hello, I will also share with you my two 629 4'' no dash pinned and recessed , that I acquired in the last year from the German market (I am from Poland). Both are in very decent condition after being used by hunters (low shot count), and interestingly they have different fonts for the barrel inscription and different front sight colors Serial numbers: N866303 and N854080

So I purchased them through the auction portal egun.de from the German market, the German market is very rich in all kinds of weapons, especially short ones used by hunters to finish off game. These revolvers were not really used for hunting, but rather served to potentially put down wounded animals. In Germany, hunters have always been allowed to have short firearms, while in Poland they used to be allowed but not anymore, for hunting permit. Here in Poland, given the current situation in Ukraine and even before that, getting a firearm license is easier than getting a driver's license, in my opinion. Personally, I've only had a permit for 2 years. We have various types of permits here: for sports, hunting, collecting, personal protection, or property protection. The civilian firearms market in our country is currently experiencing strong growth, as we practically have access to the entire market of manufacturers and various calibers, though for sports permits, we can have a maximum of up to 12mm caliber and of course not full auto :))) Below are two pictures of my S&W collection purchased from the German market and the rest of my collection mainly composed of Ceska Zbrojovka CZ :) Although there is also the new Colt Python from which my love for revolvers began, as well as the unique Sako in .308 also from the German market :)

Witaj na Forum! Model 629s, especially early "no dash" models, are very popular here on the Forum. The Model 629 (6" barrel) was first introduced by S&W in 1979, and the 4" and 8-3/8" barrels were released in 1981. Your two nice 4" revolvers were manufactured in late 1982 or early 1983 and overlap the release of the Model 629-1 (eliminated P&R) in 1982. Front sights should be red ramp, so the black front sight insert on one of your revolvers was changed out at some point by a previous owner. Also notice that the Goncalo Alves checked target stocks are different...one has the extractor relief "football cut" on the left stock, and the other has the later "speed loader cut". They may both be original sets of stocks since speed loader cuts were introduced in the early 80s, and football cut stocks were probably still being used. You have a couple of very nice revolvers, and I hope that you intend to shoot them. The rest of your collection is very nice, as well. Cieszyc sie!

Thank you for your comments :) The stock in one of them agrees that it is not original because I bought it with a rubber grip installed and this grip is original from the model 27, which the seller sold me without a revolver, but since it was in beautiful condition, I put it on this one 629 :) I do not intend to shoot them, they are too beautiful, last weekend I was at the shooting range with the 29-5 model from my collection and I must admit that the .44 caliber takes no prisoners :)

and an interesting fact is that in the German card at their weapons office these revolvers had the production date entered: 1977 and 1978 :)

Great collection. I know guys here in the US whose collection is not that nice. If it's not to distasteful to ask, what did you pay for the 629s in American equivalent dollars? I'm curious about cost for European shooters and collectors. My good friend and hunting partner lives in Canada where things are much more expensive.

first - 1050$
second - 1150$

the sellers, or rather the heirs, I don't really know what they were selling - brutal but true as life :)

Well color me jealous. Of all the S&W .44 magnums that I do own the venerable 4" 629 still eludes me and here you have TWO very fine examples at a very decent price as well ! Congrats on your purchase of two beautiful 4" no dash 629's
