4 inch cs 1 partridge front sight

I bought a 686 cs 1 years ago new in the box. It came with a patridge front sight that i thought at the time was kind of odd. Is that a normal sight that would come wth this model of Smith?

The weight/balance of the 3" is very near ideal IMO. Kind of coincidental, I was just at my local shop pondering a 3" 686+.
