I'm lucky enough to have 3 three inch 66s...... so I feel OK with carrying one ( a second hand -4) as my primary carry revolver.......wish S&W had gone for the 3 inch 19 vs the 2 1/2 inch.

Sure feels good when you find one that you've been hunting for a long time. Now you'll handle it, wax it, take some more photo's and store it in the safe where it belongs - then, on to the next hens tooth. Cause it's the "hunt" that keeps us excited. Congrats again.

Have you seen Doc44's 5 inch ? That one will make your heart skip a beat as well.
I like the pronounced pins of the early nickel revolvers. Do my eyes deceive me or does it have a target hammer/ trigger?

yes it does have a case harden target trigger with smooth face and a target hammer. Doc44 does have a couple guns that make me have to clean my keyboard. I do know of another forum member that has one and I beleive it is complete as well, ive been bugging him to no avail. ,

wish they had made more as well, feels perfect in your hands, and has a full length extractor which is a major plus, love the feel and balance so much im going to have to find a model66 3 inch for carry purposes

Great gun! I too believe it is the first factory confirmed 3" nickel 19-2 that I have ever seen.

Just general F.Y.I. With in the last year, a forum member posted photos of a 3" model 19, pinto. It factory lettered as such and was shipped to a factory sales rep. Neat revolver.

I too remember seeing a member with a 3 inch pinto, actually 2 of them, they are very special guns from what I remeber and gorgeous as well . . I do know who the member is, dont know if it is the same person, but dont feel comfortable posting someone elses pictures. Another one of these from the exact same shipment as yours is talked about in the Spring 1999 Journal (Vol 33, No 1) and there's also a documented one that shipped to the George Cake Co, Berkeley, CA in September, 1967.

I don't have this gun, and the photos were lifted off the web, but I once passed up an opportunity to buy one and still regret it, just because of the uniqueness factor.

The Walther R99 "La Chasse", late 1990s vintage. The blue version was a 19-8, the stainless version a 66-5, both with 3" barrels. Built by S&W for Walther and only sold on the European market for a few years.

I do believe that is one of the most beautiful guns S&W ever made. It is also about a perfect configuration for a carry gun, which is also a part of it's beauty. Pity they did not make more of them.
