Havent picked up anything of note recently. Bought a batch from a buddy needing some quick cash a couple weeks ago. Most went to inventory for my small FFL business. But included was a 25-2 is staying with me. I have 2 pre model Model of 1955 Targets but didnt have a 25-2.
Then a couple days ago an old cop buddy called and asked if I wanted to buy his old service revolver. I said of course. It is a no dash 66 he bought new in 1974 when he had about a year on. He said he also had his first pistol team gun he acquired in 1974 as well. It was given to him by another pistol member who got it from another mutual friend/ pistol team member who worked his way through law school became an ADA then retired as a district court judge during my time at the DAs office. I felt privileged to acquire the pair.
The 66 was tuned by the department armorer/asst range master who built my PPC gun in 1985. Our armorers were all factory trained and very adept at SW tuning and repair. He did action job, ground the trigger smooth, and added pencil eraser over travel stop. And black sight insert and grips modified for speed loader access. When I see those mods I know it was a shooters gun. And he was a shooter. Shot on our team for years.
I feel luck to add all three to my collection. But having the back story and knowing the PD lineage is a bonus.
