I originally posted this in a different forum, but then I figured the S&W guys might like to see these also... so if you read this elsewhere, please forgive...

Ok, a family history story condensed into a one-liner. Very close family friend 92+ years old, not doing well in hospital. Wife asks me to please pick up handguns as she does not want them around the house (no safe!). I knew he had one, but not three, and I sure didn't know the details. Here is what I picked up last night.... details below the poor phone picture - I can do better later....

The middle one is a 2" Model 36 (no dash) that may have been shot a few times. There are not even any turn marks on the cylinder.

The top one is a 3" Model 36 (no dash), new in the box, never fired. Perfect, no turn marks on the cylinder.

The bottom one is a 6" Model 14-2, new in the box, never fired. Perfect, no turn marks on the cylinder.

The two in-the-box unfired ones still have the factory goo all over them. Not sure when he bought them, but he's the original owner. It's rare that you see a 3" Model 36... especially one that's never been fired. I just had to show someone these pictures.

Update: I've cleaned and inspected all of these since the original post. I can find no evidence that any of these have ever been fired. The 2" Model 36 has some handling marks and was stored in a holster for years, but the 3" and the 6" Model 14 are new-in-the-box. :) All have the original serialized grips and it was clear they had never been off the guns.

Thanks. Not gifts, but given to me to care for. I will actually pay her more than they're worth so that I can help out with the previous owner's care - they're struggling with the huge cost of 24X7 care. At least I saved these from going to some gun shop for minimum cash. A few months ago she took the Model 14 to a local "gun shop" and they had the gall to offer her $250 for it. Thank the gun gods that she's smarter than that and brought it back home.

Whatever you pick them up for you did the right thing and you got three great handguns to boot! ;)
