32-20 1st Model 1902?

Pencil barrel with no swell at the frame and the unsupported ejector rod knob means it should predate the Model 1902. Typically looks like a 32 Winchester 1st Model or Model 1899.
Now for the interesting part, the serial number is in the range of the Model 1902, since the Model 1899 ended at 5311, There is a chance that the barrel was changed, so look at the flat under the barrel for a serial number and tell us what you find? There is also a chance that a few 1899s were made up and sold after the Model 1902 started production. Serial number ranges were very thoroughly researched, but the numbers are only as good as the factory handwritten logs.

Yes. There are 1899s with numbers that should be in the 1902 range. I own a .32 Winchester Model of 1899 with serial number 5629. It did happen.
My S&W M1899 .32-20, 5" blue, # 4287, shipped in September 1901.
Liking those grips, just not the carving on them. They look like they would fill and fit the hand nicely. Good snag in my mind.
Your right, they do fit very well. Initially I was kind of turned off since they weren't original, but after handling them they are very nice.
I paid $400.00 for the revolver with a box of 50 rounds of Winchester 100 gr. ammo. It is a shame that now 50 rounds of ammo would be worth almost $50 by itself.
