.32 H&R Mag Help ...

Good evening. I picked up some 95 GR LSWC's that I plan to use for some H&R Mag Reloads. Been looking in my reloading books and can't find load data specific to this bullet. Can anyone point me in the right direction for recipes (got a wide variety of powder to work with) ...or know any proven loads using 95 LSWC's? Thanks in advance for help ...

Hodgdon has load data cor a 90gr cast bullet, you can probably use that but not to the max charge. Lyman #50 doesn't have data for a cast bullet over 85gr. Sorry I can't help you more.

What range of loading are you interested in? Target, mid-range, or "lively"?

The .32 H&R Mag works with a lot of powders...

Another great resource for loads for a great many cartridges in general, is the M.D Smith website, this is the link to the .32 H&R Mag loads:

I use Unique for many of the different cartridges I reload, so I also use it for .32 H&R Mag. I'm using 3.5 gr. of Unique with a 90 gr. hard cast lead SWC, out of a Ruger Blackhawk and my S&W 16-4.

Just to add to the above, Alliant has data for a 98gr HBWC using Bullseye.

Western Powders only had data for a 100gr lead bullet.

Where did you get those bullets? It seems none of the sources have data for them.

I picked these up at an estate sale. They are from National Bullet Company out of Eastlake, Ohio. A quick Google search shows they are no longer in business. Really appreciate everyone's help and input ...

Look up loads with the RCBS 98 SWC. IME, that bullet and bore just love each other.

Please keep us informed as to your actual, at-the-range results. I find it strange that with all the interest over the last few years in various iterations of the 32 revolver rounds, the amount of solid, range tested data isn’t as great (in amount) as I would expect.

The bullets and moulds to which I have access are mostly a little heavier than the bullet in question, but additions to the general knowledge base of 32s is welcome.

I have a few hundred of the National Bullet Company 98gr HBWC. I also have 500 if the Speer 98gr HBWC.

I've used HS6, 231, 2400, 4227, Unique, H110, N110, and N340.

I may get to shoot some later this month. I will report back with velocity and group size results.

Those bullets over cat sneeze charges of 231 and have fun! It will be like shooting a 22 short, yet amazingly accurate. You’re in for a treat.

One word of warning: Don’t try to push those HBWCs too hard. The thin skirts won’t be able to take it. They are intended strictly for target use. In 38s they used to refer to MRWC (mid Range Wad Cutters) good only to 50 meters, but unbeatable at 25 & 50 yards.

I beleive Speer advised that their 38 HBwc be kept below 850fps
to help prevent the soft lead "Skirt" from seperating from their bullet.

One person stated that 3.2 grs of Bullsye was their maximum safe load in a 38 special.

I do not know what the HBwc fps, is safe in a 32 revolver.

Load just a few and see if they fit the gun you have. NBC had a sizing problem at the end of his business. I had problems with some .38 bullets being oversized and it drove me crazy. Couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong.

It was nice to have NBC 30 minutes away if I needed bullets but the quality suffered towards the end. Larry

Great to hear you are exploring.32; I believe the .32 family is under appreciated. They are accurate, small, light, use little powder and smaller bullets. In my experience they penetrate out of proportion to to what the MV/KE figures might suggest. Kinda suspect its sectional density helps it penetrate.

Meister 98 Grain DEWC are available from Midway occasionally and are great utility loads for target, small game and possible self defense in a pinch. I have a 18" rifled .327 Fed Mag insert for my O/U that is loads of fun, can shoot .32 long, H&R Mag and Fed Mag. The .32 longs sound and feel like squibs but are pretty accurate considering I am aiming with a single shotgun bead.

For exotic .32 H&R Mag loads, I looked at Lehigh Defense .312 95 Grain Xtreme Defense monolithics. I received personalized data from Mike Cyrus from Lehigh Defense, as always use start low and exercise caution:
