32 H&R Mag load recommendations needed…..

Ordered some Hornady 85 & 100 gr XTP to try along with a box of 75 gr Rimrock LFN bullets that I originally ordered for .32 acp. I'll be loading for a 432 UC, so I'm thinking a good place to start will be BE-86 using Unique load data to work up.

I was looking to see if anyone had used Clays in lieu of Bullseye type target loads in the .32 H&R. I only saw it with lighter bullets. Well I do have some Missouri Bullet 78 gr RN that I bought for the .32 S&W long but they are a bit mediocre. Even worse was the boxes of Cast Performance 85 SWC I bought from Midway. Utter trash, all round bottomed with various fill out. I was waiting on my Arsenal 98 SWC keith mold.

Those Rimrock’s ought to be great. I wish I still had my FA Model 97 in .32 H&R Magnum

Boy, I just got back from my little range. I tried four loads. Two with my Keith type 98 SWC and two with an MP 314-640 with the flat point pins in. That MP mold is so far the best thing I have found. It’s handily beating the Keith type but I may have not found the right load for the WW alloy Keith bullet. Today with the Keith I tried a firmer load of W231, 3.5 grains and a 4.4 load of AA5. The MP mold loads were the same AA5 load of 4.4 grains and the variable was one was the leftover bullets cast of 30:1 and the other was WW alloy, both sized .314(+) with 50/50 lube. That MP mold is really making me glad because I thought maybe I was just losing my visual acuity to be an accurate shooter anymore.

Made time today for a range trip. The 432 is accurate, but like a lot of others, I seem to tug every shot to the left, about 1 to 2 inches at 7 yards. Not the end of the world. The sights and barrel are centered and straight. I'm certain it's the ergonomics/trigger.

4.4 gr = 874 dps
4.5 gr = 881 fps
4.6 gr = 904 fps
4.7 gr = 934 fps (most accurate)
4.8 gr = 941 fps

.32 H&R Mag 100 gr Hornady XTP:
1.070" case length (Starline, new)
1.335" c.o.a.l.
Federal #100
BE-86:
4.1 gr = 801 fps
4.2 gr = 820 fps
4.3 gr = 838 fps (most accurate)
4.4 gr = 855 fps
4.5 gr = 869 fps

No pressure signs, and easy extraction on all loads. The 4.4 gr and 4.5 gr loads with the 100 gr XTP were getting pretty stout recoil, but still not at .38 +P levels. Good accuracy with both the 85 gr and 100 gr XTPs. Slightly smaller groups with the 85 gr, which also hit point of aim. I probably won't buy the 100 gr XTP again.

If you don't cast your own 32 caliber bullets, check with Everglades Ammo as they stock 32 plated in 85 grain, that they are out of right now, but also 115 grain.
Shoot great & priced much lower than Hornady XTP's which I like & shoot but Hornady's are at $240 per/M instead of $110 per/M as the 115 grain plated are, also includes shipping & so far no tax.
I believe the bullets are made in Canada, at least a company up there is the only plated bullet company I could find that shows both 85 grain & 115 grain plated bullets.
I find the Hornady's to shoot a bit better for me, but I am a plinker so I usually go for low price.
I have started casting with being semi-retired now, so I am buying more molds than bullets lately.

I have all the makings for the 100 grain XTP load. I may have to try that in my 4.2” SP101.
